TAV Archaeology in 3D is a project of TAV (Treno ad Alta Velocità. High Speed/High Capacity Railway Lines), under the aegis of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, and in collaboration with the competent Superintendencies, for a series of multimedia and interactive products dedicated to the presentation of the archaeological discoveries during the works for the new high speed lines.

Each TAV Archaeology in 3D multimedia publication is created within the activities of enhancement and conservation of the archaeological founds in a specific area, and it is carried on together with the local Superintendency, in the spirit of cooperation with institutions that characterizes the whole TAV project.

For each module an interdisciplinary staff, with historical-archaeological, communicative-editorial and technological-multimedia expertises, operates, under the supervision of a scientific committee. The modules describe landscapes crossed by the new high speed lines through many points of view (time, geography, themes) that are enjoyable simultaneously.

Contents are organized in hypertexts by encyclopaedic devices, documents, interactive maps, thematic hyper textual cards, 3D reconstructions, audio and video contributions.

TAV Archaeology in 3D uses the most advanced 3D virtual reconstruction methodologies inserted in multimedia hypertexts that are able to present, in a popular and at the same time rigorously scientific mode, the new archaeological and historical-territorial information.

This first module, dedicated to archaeological discoveries in Lazio region, will be followed by modules on Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Piedmont, Rome, Tuscany and Veneto.
